Our office is the first one in Colorado to offer High-Definition Vision, the latest technology.

These new Wavefront-guided lenses provide even better sight with more clarity and crispness than the best 20/20 natural vision are available at Jacobs Eyecare Center. The new Wavefront-Guided lens customized to correct for the specific individual irregularities of each eye provides ground-breaking “High-definition Vision” excellent acuity, better contrast, minimal glare or distortion, and high color perception.

This Wavefront-Guided lens is a one of a kind customized match for a patient’s individual ‘Optical Fingerprint”- their specific visual needs- so the resultes are optimal.

Patients tell me that their nighttime vision while driving is better. They don’t suffer from glare or starbursts or that fuzziness that they used to experience while driving. They feel a bit more assured while on the road now.

The Wavefront-guided lens is a result of a comprehensive, advanced refractive process. First we measure the patient’s eye with the new computerized aberrometer, a device that uses Wavefront technology to “map” a patients refractive errors. This exam takes only a short time. These measurements are then translated into a customized prescription that matches exactly the patient’s optical needs. Next the lens is manufactured with proprietary technology match exactly the patient’s prescription.

FAQ’s

*Will this new technology work for everyone? It will work for about 85% of the people, but we still turn down about 15% of the patients because their Optical Eye Print is not appropriate for these lenses.

*How do you decide which patients it will work for? You need to be evaluated by this new technology in our office.

*Is their an extra cost for the evaluation? No, this is part of your eye health examination in our office.

*Do the new lenses cost a lot more than normal lenses? No, they are a little more expensive but they are your unique prescription.

*What if I do not currently have a glasses prescription but I still have difficulty seeing at night? A lot of people can see the 20/20 but their vision suffers from the poor quality of that vision.

*How does this new technology work? This is very exciting because this is a paradigm shift in how we as eye doctors diagnose and prescribe. In the past we could only diagnose and prescribe for the X and Y coordinates in your glasses. Now we can also diagnose and prescribe for the Z coordinate in each quadrant. This Z coordinate can now be measured with our Optical Eye Print of your eye. Customized iZon Lenses contain over 11,000 points of resolution across each lens resulting in a dramatic improvement in the quality of your vision.

Are the lenses as effective during the day as they are at night? Absolutely. iZon Lenses give wearers High-Definition Vision day and night. Wearers say their vision is sharper, clearer, more vivid and, they see with greater depth and dimension both during the day and at night.

What kind of improvement in nighttime driving do iZon Eyeglasses provide? Under FDA validated simulated nighttime driving tests, iZon Lens wearers driving 55 MPH under glare conditions were able to detect, recognize and react to a potential hazard three-tenths of a second and 35 feet faster than those wearing conventional glasses.

Are these improvements in nighttime driving performance significant? Yes. Several years ago, it was Federally mandated that all new vehicles in the U.S. include a third brake light in the back window because it improved driver reaction time by .35 seconds. iZon Lenses improve driver reaction by another .30 seconds

*Is this new technology available in progressive lenses? Yes, these new progressive lenses offer improve distant and near vision because there is more reading area with less distortions of to the side.

*Who is a good candidate for High-Definition Lenses? People who want to see as sharp as they can possibly see in High-Def. for both day and night vision. People who have had difficulty seeing at night and recognizing street signs. People who have had Lasik or other Laser surgeries are good candidates because some patients want to their vision to be a little sharper and crisper.

*What is wavefront-guided technology? Wavefront technology was originally utilized in the field of astronomy to aid in reducing aberrations or imperfections in the multiple lenses of telescopes, including the Hubble Telescope. With similar technologies developed out of the Government's Star Wars program, the Ophthonix Z-View Aberrometer provides an accurate assessment of the optical imperfections found in the entire eye's optical system. *I have had LASIK or PRK surgery in the past, but I notice that my vision is not as sharp or clear as I would like. Can iZon Lenses help me? iZon Lenses do improve the overall quality of vision because you will see things sharper and clearer with greater depth and dimension. Although iZon Lenses have not been tested in a full clinical trial on post-refractive patients, they do compensate for the unique irregularities of your eyes and should improve the quality of your vision.
